Google Announces Google Play Feature to Install Personal Android Apps Developed in Google AI Studio on Users’ Devices
Google recently introduced a new Google Play functionality that allows the users to install android apps developed in Google AI Studio on their devices. These apps are private and do not interfere with the public Google Play Store. In addition, the users do not have to register as developers to utilize this feature.
The new update eliminates the need to connect phones to a computer to install the desired application. Moreover, it makes exploring the possibilities of AI creation easier since one can design and use the created application without having to publish it on Google Play. With that said, in order to use the applications created in Google AI Studio, one needs to launch them from their Google account. Previously, a computer had to be used to install these programs.
Availability and Eligibility for Google AI Studio Apps
This feature will initially be available in the United States for users aged 18 years or older. However, the company has not revealed the list of countries where the feature will be available.
How Google Play’s Private Android Apps Work
Google stated that the new private apps would be separate and secure but would not be visible outside the user’s space. They added that in the next few months, they would introduce a feature that would allow users to share their creations with a small group of people. However, they did not mention when this update would be available.
Google stated that those who wish to share their work with the public should use a professional Google Play developer account. In that case, the Trust & Safety review process would apply to their apps designed for private use.
Future Plans for Sharing and Expanding Private Apps
According to Google, their objective is to make the Google Play Store more than a discovery platform for apps created by professional developers but also for those created for personal use. Therefore, one should look out for the expansion of this feature to other regions and the introduction of a feature that would allow sharing private apps with friends and family.
